GMC|Sierra is a consortium comprising GMC Utilities Group and Sierra Support Services Group, both of which are Irish owned companies and have been in operation for over 30 years.
On 26th July 2013, Irish Water announced the appointment of GMC|Sierra as one of the regional contractors engaged by Irish Water to manage the Meter Installation Programme. This Programme began in early August 2013 and will see over 1 million meters installed nationwide by end 2016. As one of the chosen regional contractors, GMC|Sierra is responsible for managing the recruitment of suitable staff to meet the programme targets, as well as managing the installation of the meters themselves. GMC|Sierra is responsible for the installation of water meters in households in the Dublin City, Midlands, South East and North West regions i.e. Dublin City, Wicklow, Kildare, Offaly, Laois, Mayo, Roscommon, Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim

Meet The Team
Shane McCloskey
Overall Contract Manager
Shane has over 15 years of experience in water industry contracting. This includes working on mains rehabilitation projects across Ireland. In 2006, GMC secured the Non-Domestic Water Metering Project. Completed successfully in 2010 this included the selection, installation and operation of an AMR solution to premises. It included survey and right sizing to all premises from simple shops to complex premises such as the Guinness complex.
Regional Managers:
Brian Duggan
Midlands Region
Brian Duggan has over seventeen years of experience in the supervision and management of utility services. Brian has recently been responsible for the delivery of a number of water projects, including rehabilitation and site investigation contracts.
Dermot Dolan
Dublin City Region
Dermot has 13 years of utility experience covering multi utility operations. In the last 7 years this has been focused on water projects in Ireland. He worked as Contract Manager on the Non-Domestic Water Metering contract for Dublin, completed in 2010.
As Regional Manager he is responsible for managing the field operations to ensure the delivery of this customer focused construction/installation activity.
Chris Gaffney
North West Region
Chris has extensive experience in utility projects for over 20 years. He has all round experience including gas, telecoms and water projects. His strength is delivering complex projects across wide regions, which include s close liaison with stakeholders including councils, land owners etc.
His experience of water main rehabilitation projects and the level of intensity and customer contact and care required will enable him to manage the delivery of this Domestic Metering project for Irish Water.
John Doonan
South East Region
John Doonan has 40 years’ experience in gas and water. Previous experience includes work on non domestic water metering and on a number of water main rehabilitation projects.
